Man Charged in Attempted Robbery

            Reston District Station – Police apprehended a man after he reportedly tried to rob someone in the 2100 block of Centreville Road around 2:13 a.m. on Friday, June 28. An investigation determined a 43-year-old Herndon-area man was approached by another man as he walked home. The suspect displayed a knife and demanded the victim’s wallet. The victim ran away and located a patrol officer nearby. That officer located the suspect and took him into custody. Further investigation determined the suspect was in possession of stolen property.

            Anthony A. Portillo, 22, of no fixed address, was charged with attempted robbery and possession of stolen property.
