Do You Know Your Neighbors?

Meet them Tuesday, August 6 at National Night Out

Enjoy pool parties, picnics, parades, Frisbees and fun as local police join hundreds of communities across Fairfax County this Tuesday August 6, in recognition of the 30th annual National Night Out.

Between 5 and 9 p.m., officers will join in the festivities, bringing along their safety messages to neighborhoods across the county. The goals of National Night Out are to strengthen community connections within neighborhoods and to heighten awareness of crime prevention issues. The best defense against crime in a community is a good neighbor; noticing and reporting suspicious activity immediately helps keep criminal activity low. Sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and Target Corporation, crime prevention officers in Fairfax County have worked to help coordinate local events all year long.

Fairfax has over 600 neighborhood watches throughout the county, with the longest sustained Neighborhood Watch program in the nation. Learn more about National Night Out at or by contacting the Crime Prevention Officer at your local district station.
