Arrest in Hybla Valley Shooting


Mount Vernon Police District – On Tuesday, August 6, around 8 a.m. the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force apprehended the suspect in this case in Accokeek, Maryland. Ivan Stewart, 31, of Accokeek, Maryland, has been charged with robbery, malicious bodily injury, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and abduction.

Stewart is currently awaiting extradition to Fairfax County.

Man Shot in Hybla Valley Area


Mount Vernon Police District – On Friday, August 2, around 12:58 p.m. police responded to an apartment in the 8400 block of Richmond Highway for a report of a man shot. Inside the apartment, responding officers discovered an adult man with injuries to the upper body and he was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.

Investigation is ongoing.
