Manassas Man Dies in Fatal Crash (9/29/13)
Fair Oaks Police District – Fairfax County Police are investigating a fatal crash that took place on the Fairfax County Parkway just north of Braddock Road at 1:40 a.m. Sunday, September 29.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 44-year-old man was driving his 1993 Mazda MX3 Coupe northbound in the southbound lanes of the road. Some vehicles were able avoid impact by veering away from the oncoming car, but the Mazda struck a 2002 Toyota Avalon head-on. The Mazda driver, Abraham Aragon, of Soldiers Ridge Circle, Manassas was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash.
The driver (age 30) of the Avalon and his wife (age 29) are a couple from Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. They were transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The passenger, however, was pregnant. The baby was delivered early and is now in serious condition.
Detectives are investigating whether alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. All people involved in the crash were wearing seat belts.
The crash is under investigation by Crash Reconstruction Unit detectives.
