On the Beat

Tune in to “On the Beat,” a show that educates the public on the mission of the Fairfax County Police Department and provides information that contributes to public safety. Channel 16 is the Fairfax County Government local cable channel which delivers news and information about Fairfax County as well as educational programming. "On the Beat" is a 30-minute television show on Channel 16, which airs five times a week.

In this edition see how volunteer Auxiliary Police Officers play a vital role in supplementing the sworn personnel in essential public safety operations. They perform a myriad of duties such as staffing sobriety checkpoints, protecting the integrity of crime scenes, and may be deployed to natural or man-made disasters at any time. With warm weather approaching, residents will be making use of the many trails and paths Fairfax County has to offer. In this episode spend time with the Selective Enforcement Team of the Reston District Station and see how they keep our paths and outdoor areas safe for all to enjoy. This episode features detectives at Fairfax County’s new Crime Scene Section – a state of the art facility staffed by highly trained personnel. See how their work, in collaboration with patrol officers and homicide detectives, contributed to the successful prosecution a murder case.
