Armed Suspect Shot by Police

            On Wednesday, May 23 police were serving search warrants in an ongoing drug investigation at the Fairview Motel, 6421 Richmond Highway. Around 7:15 p.m., as police were finishing up the investigation, a car entered the parking lot. A man wanted by detectives was a rear seat passenger in the car. During his arrest, he failed to comply with verbal commands and produced a gun.  He was shot several times by one officer and died at the scene.

            The suspect has been identified as Randall Leroy Rollins, 28, of 6421 Richmond Highway, #5.

            The officer involved in the shooting is a member of the Organized Crime and Narcotics Unit. He is 33 years old and a 13-year veteran of the police department. He is currently on routine administrative leave. No other officers fired their weapons. The criminal and administrative investigations continue.
