Female Succumbs to Injuries

            An 18-year-old Fairfax woman has succumbed to injuries she received during a single-vehicle crash on Wednesday, November 28 at 8:37 p.m. Morgan E. Cooke, of 10217 Grovewood Way, was a front passenger in a 2003 BMW 540i with three other occupants. The driver, a 21-year-old Fairfax man, was southbound on Wolf Run Shoals Road, crested a hill prior to Suburban Place and lost control. The vehicle went off the right side of the roadway, came back across the northbound lanes, hit an embankment and went airborne. The BMW impacted a tree and came to rest.

            The driver and a 20-year-old Fairfax man were transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Cooke and a 23-year-old Fairfax man were medevaced to Inova Fairfax Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Cooke was pronounced dead on Monday, December 3 at 9:46 p.m. Speed and alcohol were factors in the crash. An investigation revealed that Cooke was not wearing her seatbelt. Charges are pending.
