Sexual Assault in Annandale

 

            A 36-year-old Annandale-area woman was abducted from a bus stop, dragged a short distance to a wooded area and then sexually assaulted.

The attack occurred near the intersection of Backlick Road and Braddock Road on Monday, December 17 shortly after 5:30 a.m. A man struck the victim in the face with his fist, before dragging her into the woods, where he touched her inappropriately. The victim struggled and screamed enough to deter the assailant, causing him to flee toward Braddock Road. The victim was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital where she was treated for non life-threatening injuries.

            The suspect, of unknown race, was wearing dark clothing and a ski mask, partially covering his face. He was between 35 and 40 years old, about 6 feet tall with a medium build.

            Detectives are looking into the possibility that this incident is related to at least one other similar attack that occurred on Industrial Road on Wednesday, November 14 shortly before 6 a.m.
