Man Charged with Sexually Assaulting Child

            Police have charged a 59-year-old Falls Church-area man for allegedly sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl. On the evening of Wednesday, December 12, officers were called to a home in the area of Merchant Lane in McLean. A police investigation determined that a child in the home had been touched inappropriately by her piano teacher on two separate occasions.

            On Tuesday, December 18 Mark “Marcos” Aanderud, of 2948 Strathmeade Street, was arrested at his home. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with one count of aggravated sexual battery for an incident on December 5 and one count of aggravated sexual battery and one count of animate object digital penetration for an incident on December 12.

            This investigation is ongoing. Detectives are not aware of any other victims but would like to speak with anyone who may have further information.
