Armed Robbery Suspect Apprehended

A 19-year-old Harrisonburg, Virginia man was robbed at gunpoint while working as a clerk at the Sunoco gas station located at 13300 Franklin Farm Road. Shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Friday, December 21, a customer pulled into the gas station and saw a man run out of the office carrying what looked like a money bag. The customer entered the station and saw the clerk lying on the floor. The clerk said he had just been robbed and asked the customer to call the police. The clerk was not injured.

Patrol officers, a K9 team and the police helicopter responded to the area. Shortly after arriving above the scene, the crew of the helicopter, utilizing a forward looking infra-red camera, located a suspect in a park area several blocks away from the station in a residential area. Patrol and K9 units, directed by the helicopter crew, quickly apprehended the suspect who was then positively identified and arrested.

Alexander W. Clark, 19, of 3205 Kinross Circle in Herndon, was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and grand larceny.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Solvers immediately at 1-866-411-TIPS/8477 or Fairfax County Police at 703-691-2131.
