District Stations

The size of our county makes it impossible to provide police services effectively and efficiently from any one location.  Consequently, the Fairfax County Police Department operates from a headquarters building in the courthouse complex in the City of Fairfax and eight district police stations.

The officers and civilians at each of the eight district police stations are responsible for law enforcement within the boundaries of each district. A captain, aided by a first lieutenant, commands each station and is akin to the police chief within that district.  Squads of patrol officers and detectives, under the command of second lieutenants and sergeants, are assigned to each district station.
