Franconia Station wins the Chief’s Challenge
The Franconia District Station was recently honored after receiving a first place in the Fairfax County Chief’s Challenge and Captain’s Choice Award. This Law Enforcement Challenge is a competition between all eight Fairfax County Police Stations. It recognizes and rewards the best overall traffic safety programs in Fairfax County. The areas of concentration include efforts to enforce laws and educate the public about occupant protection, impaired driving, and speeding. The wining safety programs are those that combine officer training, public information, and enforcement to reduce crashes and injuries within its district. The Franconia District Station also finished the competition with the highest overall score for all department categories.
The Franconia Captain’s Choice award was a focused effort on child passenger safety. None of this could be accomplished without "boots on the ground," an army of dedicated technicians, teaching families how to safely transport their children. Using car seats, booster seats and seat belts the right way on every ride. Their success lies in lives saved and serious injuries prevented. Franconia Car Seat Technicians educated the caregivers to properly restrain our most vulnerable passengers.
Franconia District Station believes an increase in traffic enforcement in a community results in a decrease in motor vehicle crashes, injuries, and fatalities.
