CAC Social 2011
Fairfax County Police Department
The Franconia Station Citizen Advisory Committee social was a success. Members of the community gathered with officers of the Franconia District Station for fun and food on Wednesday, June 15. The hot dogs and burgers were gone as fast as they came off the grill. The variety of salads appealed to every palate. The big surprise was the Cold Peach Soup, a very tasty drink made by CAC president, Sue Hotto.
Jerry Stemler, the police department’s DWI coordinator, came to the gathering with a clear message and a few of his “toys”. He informed all that .08% Blood Alcohol Content (BAC), commonly referred to as the legal limit for DWI, can be misleading. Any impaired driver regardless of BAC level can and will be arrested for DWI if the driver’s ability to safely drive a vehicle is impaired. Citizens and officers were able to attempt shooting basketballs and perform several Standard Field Sobriety tests while wearing “fatal vision”. The goggles, seen in the photos below, provide the wearer a sensation of being impaired due to alcohol.
