Fairfax County Police Department Robbery Near Jayhawk Street and Backlick RoadA woman was robbed walking home. The Annandale-area woman, 19, was in the area of Jayhawk Street and Backlick Road on Sunday, January 1 shortly after 9:30 p.m. when an unknown man approached her from behind and pulled on her purse. She fought the suspect and he ran to his vehicle then drove off with the purse. The victim was not injured. The suspect was described as Hispanic in his late 20’s. He was approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and 160 pounds. He had dark skin and was unshaven. He was wearing a white hoodie, dark blue jeans, and white sneakers. The vehicle he drove off in was described as a black, four-door with Virginia license plates. Detectives are continuing their investigation. Police ask that you remain vigilant and call if you see any suspicious activity.
