Traffic Enforcement Initiatives
In order to reduce the number of crashes taking place on the highways in the Franconia District, each month an area is selected to focus efforts relating to enforcement of State and County traffic laws. The areas are selected based on crash history and complaints generated by the public. From February 23- March 1, that area was the Richmond Highway corridor section of Franconia. During that week, officers wrote 254 summonses and warnings for various traffic infractions. On March 23, Officers and Auxiliary Officers will conduct Franconia’s first DWI checkpoint of 2012. It will be in the Route 1 corridor also, although the exact location has not been selected. Our next area of focus is Telegraph Road. Telegraph Road is a long stretch of highway through the Franconia District used by hundreds of people daily. Please be conscientious of others and remain attentive when operating your vehicle. Know that the officers in this district are working very hard to reduce the tragedies possible when laws are broken. If you would like to contact our Traffic Enforcement Officer, MPO Thompson, directly to report an area experiencing repeated violations, you may email him directly at FranconiaStationCPO@fairfaxcounty.gov.
