Springtime Scam

Fairfax County Police Department Springtime Scam
Please be alert to seasonal scams that may be attempted in your area. Detectives at the Franconia Station advise they have already received a report of an elderly citizen who was overcharged after accepting an offer to have his driveway “sealed”. Be mindful that often the “sealants” being used by those who commit fraud are little more than oil mixtures that run right off during rain. Please call 703-691-2131 if you have someone soliciting this type of work in your neighborhood. You are not required to give your name or speak to an officer in person, but we want to identify those who do not abide by the Solicitor laws in Fairfax County. If you would like more information about Solicitor laws, please review the Solicitor Information brochure on our website. It is located under the section marked Franconia Station Flyers in the Crime Prevention Corner. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to call the non-emergency number above or email our Crime Prevention Officer at FranconiaStationCPO@fairfaxcounty.gov.
