Fairfax County Police Department Burglars Caught in the Act
On Wednesday, May 16, two juvenile burglary suspects were arrested by Fairfax County Police, Franconia District officers. Around 11:30 a.m. a woman was home alone on Havelock Street in Springfield when she heard voices and footsteps on the floor above her. While remaining calm, the resident called 911 and explained what she was hearing to the call taker. The 911 call taker kept the resident on the phone and provided updates to responding officers. Upon arrival, officers were able to confront and arrest two suspects leaving the house. Both were juveniles who were not known to the resident. The juveniles were in possession of valuables belonging to the resident. One of the suspects was armed with a BB gun that resembled a real firearm, though he did not threaten anyone with the weapon. Detectives are continuing to follow-up on this investigation and explain that they believe the suspects may be responsible for other daytime burglaries in the area. The suspects were held at the Juvenile Detention Center following their arrests.
