Students Participate in Project Sticker Shock

Fax 703-719-6436 www.fairfaxcounty.gov/police/stations/franconia Date Released 06/11/12 Contact: Brooke Wright / 703-922-0889 Information Bulletin: Prevent Underage Drinking Students Participate in Project Sticker Shock               Friday June 1st a group of students from Edison High School along with the School Resource Officer, MPO Mark Gleason, participated in Project Sticker Shock.  The project consists of the group applying stickers, like the one seen above, to various packages of alcoholic beverages to educate adults about the laws in reference to providing alcohol to underage persons.             The stickers are a reminder that convictions for providing alcohol to persons under 21 years old can result in fines up to $2,500 and/or 1 year in jail and the loss of your driver’s license for up to 1 year.             You can read more about the consequences of teen drinking at the following web page: http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/police/traffic/alcohol-education.htm.            ###  To request this information in an alternate format, call the Franconia District Station at 703.922.0889.  TTY 711
