Fairfax County Police Department Recognizing Memorial Challenge
Franconia officers patrolling on Memorial Day took a few minutes off to show respect and appreciation to the injured veterans taking part in a rehabilitative ride consisting of more than 300 bicyclists. The event is called Memorial Challenge and the group was riding from Arlington to Virginia Beach over a period of five days. They passed through a portion of the Franconia District on Monday, May 28. Some of the cyclists are propelling their bicycles with hand cranks after having injuries or loss of use of their legs.
“The riders were pretty impressive and inspiring,” stated Sergeant Mike Huminik, supervisor of the patrol days A shift. ### To request this information in an alternate format, call the Franconia District Station at 703.922.0889. TTY 711 |
