Fairfax County Police Department Technology Assists Franconia Officer in Apprehension of Wanted Person
On Thursday July 12, PFC Scott Shafer of the Franconia District SET Team arrested Deronte D. Summers of 9655 Franklin Woods Place in Lorton. Summers had previously failed to appear in court in Prince William County after being charged with a felony. He was detained by PFC Shafer after being stopped with a person who was driving on a suspended license and provided the officer with a false name and date of birth. PFC Shafer noted Summers behaving nervously and verified his identity using a mobile Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) machine. The machine provided Summers true identity, which revealed that he was wanted. Summers attempted to flee, but was quickly apprehended. He was also charged with providing false identification to law enforcement to avoid arrest. ### To request this information in an alternate format, call the Franconia District Station at 703.922.0889.
