Fax 703-719-6436 www.fairfaxcounty.gov/police/stations/franconia Date Released 08/13/12 Contact: Brooke Wright / 703-922-0889 Information Bulletin: Metro Visit Tips for Metro Riders                                            On Friday afternoon officers from the Franconia District Station along with Metro Transit Police Officers visited the Franconia-Springfield Metro Station.  Their goal was to remind metro riders how to safeguard their property and to report any suspicious activity.                                             Lead by Captain Donald of Metro Transit Police, and Lt. Lescallett of the Franconia District Station, officers handed out free club devices, often used as a theft deterrent for vehicles, and flyers with safety tips and phone numbers.  The tips we would like all users of public transportation to remember are: Lock your car and close the windows Lock valuables in the trunk or out of sight Keep small electronics concealed while on Metro Avoid sitting or standing near doors while using an electronic device Register your electronics with the manufacturers Keep a log of serial numbers Report all suspicious behavior             Call 703-691-2131 to report any suspicious activity in Fairfax County, or 911 in an emergency. ### To request this information in an alternate format, call the Franconia District Station at 703.922.0889.  TTY 711
