Fairfax County Police Department Theft Suspect Targeted Smart Phone
Officers of the Franconia Station arrested Ricky Smith Jr. of Washington, D.C., on Thursday, August 9 after a smart phone was stolen in a Springfield restaurant. Customers were dining with their cell phones on the table. Smith allegedly walked by, snatched the cell phone, and then fled on foot from the business. PFC Scott Reever responded directly to the Franconia-Springfield Metro Station since the suspect had fled in that direction. While there, he detained Smith before he could board a train. The victims of the theft were able to positively identify him as the person who took their phone. The phone was recovered. Please remember to keep your electronics out of sight when out in public.
