Fairfax County Police Department Kids Open House Enjoyed by Many
Last Saturday we held our 1st Kid’s Open House here at the Franconia Station. Many families attended and we enjoyed getting to spend some time getting to know the young people of our district. Kids got to explore the vehicles officers use, as well as learn some valuable lessons regarding wearing seatbelts. They also got to test the speed of their throw using our radar trailer. Older kids (and parents) were invited to learn how impaired a driver really is when intoxicated. Some cones suffered the consequences. Thanks to Rainbow Rentals generous donation of their inflatable bounces, the kids were able to get out some excess energy! We even had a police Lieutenant willing to “test it out” for the kids. We won’t name names (see photo).
Inside the station, attendees were invited to sign their names on our banner and see a Crime Scene demonstration about lifting their fingerprints. Officers and our volunteers did some face painting. Fairfax County Explorers helped out and assisted McGruff with introductions.
We hope all who attended had a great time and we hope to have another event in the near future. Stay tuned to our website for information. ###
