Seniors Scammed in the Area

Fairfax County Police Department Seniors Scammed in the AreaOn Sunday, August 12 two different residences in the Franconia District had con artists on their property. The criminals offered to seal driveways for the senior citizen homeowners. The driveways were sprayed with kerosene and tar and the victims were charged several hundred dollars each for this “service.” Often these unlawful solicitors are operating pick-up trucks with spraying tanks in the backs. Please call 703-691-2131 if you have someone soliciting this type of work in your neighborhood. You are not required to give your name or speak to an officer in person, but we want to identify those who do not abide by the Solicitor laws in Fairfax County. If you would like more information about Solicitor laws, please review the Solicitor Information brochure which is on our website. It is located under the section marked Franconia Station Flyers in the Crime Prevention Corner. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to call the non-emergency number above or email our Crime Prevention Officer at FranconiaStationCPO@fairfaxcounty.gov.
