Fairfax County Police Department Gas Prices Could Increase Crime
Gas prices have gone on the rise again. Unfortunately, sometimes that corresponds to a rise in certain crimes. Last week in the Franconia District, two men were spotted attempting to siphon gas from day care buses. In addition, a gas can was stolen from a vehicle in the overnight hours. Officers have been alerted to these cases and would appreciate your assistance. First, protect yourself from these cases. Lock your sheds and garages where you store your gas, and locking rear fence gates to your yard is always a good practice. Consider a locking gas cap if you have a large vehicle that holds a significant amount of fuel. Second, please remain vigilant if you witness one of these occurrences. Document license plate numbers of suspicious vehicles and call us immediately at 703-691-2131 to have an officer dispatched to investigate. ###
