Information Bulletin: Larcenies from Vehicles

Don't be a Victim, Lock Your Vehicle

Recently the Franconia District of Fairfax County has seen an increase in vehicle larcenies. While Fairfax County is a great place to live, thieves always look for an easy opportunity to obtain your valuables. The vast majority, over 55% of vehicles targeted for larcenies are unlocked vehicles. Furthermore, the number of expensive items left in unlocked vehicles only increases the temptation for a thief to break into your vehicle. The officers of the Franconia District Station would like to remind all residents to prevent themselves from becoming victims of theft. This is easily done in the following ways:

  • Lock your vehicles
  • Do not store the keys from one vehicle in another
  • Keep valuables out of sight
  • Document and photograph your valuables (and serial numbers)
  • Illuminate your driveway/parking area

As always we ask that you call in any suspicious persons, vehicles or activity in your area by dialing 703-691-2131. In an emergency, please call 911
