Franconia Welcomes New Deputy Commander
First Lieutenant Dean Lay assumed his role as Deputy Commander of the Franconia Station on January 11, 2014. Lieutenant Lay has been with the Fairfax County Police Department over 20 years serving in various assignments from patrol supervisor at the West Springfield District Station to special assignments with the United States Attorney’s Office. As an Air Force veteran, he holds a degree in Business Management and is completing a Master’s in Business Administration. He has lectured for the National Fire Academy, FBI Academy, national investigative conferences, and numerous universities.
Lieutenant Lay was previously assigned to the Franconia District as a 2nd Lieutenant patrol supervisor and neighborhood patrol unit supervisor. After being promoted to 1st Lieutenant, he served as the Police Liaison Commander at the McConnell Public Safety and Transportation Operations Center. He is excited to return and looks forward to serving the citizens in Franconia once again.
