Fairfax County Police Department Franconia Station Crossing Guards
They help get your children safely to and from school. They are out in the weather regardless of the weather. They love what they do and they love your children. They are Fairfax County School Crossing Guards. We have ten crossing guards assigned to the station. They help our children cross the street at 17 schools before and after school. The two most senior, Andrea Jeffries and Carlene Collins have been crossing guards here at Franconia for over 30 years. Most of our guards have been doing this for more than several years. Tina Dove is our newest guard. She has just begun her first full school year after closing-out a couple of months at the end of the last school year. Some guards take the job as a retirement job. Others take the job because it fits nicely with their current job. At least one took the job because it allowed her more time with her children. They all have the same goal of providing safety for your children. Captain Shawn Bennett, Franconia Station Commander stated, “Rain or shine, we can count on our crossing guards to protect our children as they make their way to and from school. Their service to our community is greatly appreciated.” If you see a crossing guard, you can be sure students are near. When you see a crossing guard, follow their guidance. They are directing traffic and assisting students to safely get to school or home.
