Safety Doesn’t Take the Summer Off
With prom, graduation, vacation season, and the release of thousands of students for their summer break, the Fairfax County Police Department reminds residents that safety doesn’t take the summer off.
Officers from across the county will be employing manpower and resources in creative ways designed to help keep residents safe.
Examples include:
Sully Station officers will implement a vigorous enforcement campaign in areas near schools; targeting red light and stop sign violators and reckless drivers.
McLean Station will host a region-wide intoxicated driver effort that includes Fairfax County Police Officers, along with troopers from the Virginia State Police, Falls Church City Police, Town of Vienna Police, U.S. Park Police and the Fairfax City Police.
West Springfield Station kicked off a “Summer Cops on the Block” program that puts officers at summertime community events focusing on bicycle safety, trail safety, and other issues of concern. Residents are welcome and encouraged to attend.
