Home Security Checklist


Is your home as safe as it should be?

Are all entrances to your home equipped with some form of lighting?

Do you keep all entry doors locked when you are home?

Have you removed any key-typed deadbolt locks that could hinder your escape in the event of a fire?

Do doors feature wide-angle peepholes?

Are glass panels in or near your door reinforced so they cannot be shattered?

Do all entryways to your home have a working, keyed entry lock and deadbolt?

Do you have locks on your garage door?

Do you make sure the garage doors are kept locked when not in use?

Are any sliding glass doors equipped with strong, working locks?

Do you check to make sure any sliding door is locked every night and when leaving the house?

Does every window in the house have working lock? Are the windows locked?

Do you trim bushes and shrubs near windows regularly?

Is every dark area around your house, garage and yard lighted?

Are light bulbs for outdoor areas in good working order?

Does your community have a Neighborhood Watch group to address crime in your area?
