How you can help animals over the holidays!

            The Fairfax County Animal Shelter is always in need of donations. As Fairfax County families gather for the holidays and compose their "wish lists", the Shelter has developed one of their own.

            Each year, more than 5,000 companion animals pass through the doors of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter. With your help, the shelter provides the best care possible for these stray, abandoned and surrendered animals. The following items are always needed:

General items: towels, ziploc bags, toys, leashes, harnesses, collars, crates/cages, dishes/bowls, flea treatments
Cleaning supplies: wipes, WD40, paper towels, latex gloves, newspaper, HE laundry detergent, bleach, air/fabric freshners
Office supplies: pens (black or blue), pencils, AAA or 9V batteries, copy paper, post-in notes, correction tape, twin pocket folders (red, blue, yellow)
hand sanitizers, Kleenex tissues
Cat supplies: canned cat food (Friskies or Fancy Feast), KMR Powder (kitten mild replacement), clay litter (non-clumping), Yesterday's News litter, new litter boxes, new litter scoops, round fleece beds, Royal Canin "Baby Cat" Dry Food, cans of wet kitten food (no seafood; chicken, lamb, turkey), small, stuffed animals for kittens, pillowcases, cat/kitten nail clippers, carriers (top loading)
Dog Supplies: Canned dog food, rope toys, hard rubber toys, dog nail clippers, Kong dog toys, Nylabone dog toys (new only)
Small animal supplies: Carefresh rabbit litter, timothy hay, food for birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, turtles, snakes), small cages
Miscellaneous: Gift cards to Petco, PetSmart,Target,WalMart, Costco, advertising space

Monetary donations: Fairfax County Animal Shelter Trust Fund

                            Fairfax, VA 22030

Donated items may be dropped off at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter, 4500 West Ox Road, Tuesday through Friday from noon until 7 p.m. and Saturday between 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
