2010 Bicycle Crashes in Fairfax County
Fairfax County had 86 reportable crashes involving bicycles in 2010.
Four of these crashes involved the death of the bicyclist. Five of these
were hit and run crashes where a bicyclist was struck and the motorist
fled the scene. In 53.5% of the crashes, the bicyclist was held at fault.
Most bicycle crashes occurred during the warmer months with July and
September having the highest number. The McLean police district had the
highest number of any police district.
Fairfax County had an estimated 10,430 reportable crashes in 2010.
Crashes involving bicycles represent less than 1% of this
total.
