JOINT BOARD MATTER
With Chairman Connolly

November 21, 2005

Nutley Street: No Parking Restriction

Mr. Chairman,

As you aware, several years ago, Nutley Street located between Arlington Boulevard and Lee Highway in Fairfax, was reconstructed and turned over to VDOT for use as a public road. While the reconstructed roadway has provided a critical transportation link in this part of the County, some of its usefulness is being compromised by large commercial vehicles, such as trash and construction trucks, that have been parked in front of the Pan Am Shopping Center. The exact location of which is along the east side of Nutley Street, from the rear lot line of the Providence Apartments to the southernmost driveway entrance into the Pan Am Shopping Center.

Furthermore, I have received several communications from residents of the adjacent Providence Apartments as well as a letter from the management office. These communications express concerns about the presence of these commercial vehicles, especially as they obstruct the visibility of the road.

Motion:

Therefore, I move that the County work in collaboration with VDOT and expediently resolve this parking issue so that this critical transportation link can be restored to its intended use.
