Public Facilities Manual Amendment on Drainage Divides
April 26, 2004
Background:
Mr.
Chairman, the Fairfax County Department of Public Works and
Environmental Services is currently proposing an amendment
to the Public Facilities Manual guidelines pertaining to drainage
divides. As we all know, stormwater management is becoming
an ever greater concern for Fairfax County as development
continues, increasing the amount of pervious surface in our
watersheds. I, for one, strongly believe that in order to
preserve the quality and integrity of our natural and built
environments, we need to carefully evaluate our stormwater
management practices. I would thus contend that it is important
for the Board of Supervisors to have the opportunity to review
and comment upon changes to the Public Facilities Manual which
will affect our stormwater management policies.
Motion:
Therefore,
Mr. Chairman, I move that the Board request County staff to
submit the aforementioned proposed amendment to the Board
of Supervisor's Development Review Committee for review and
comment.
