Works Week Proclamation
WHEREAS, public works services provided by Fairfax County
are an integral part of residents' everyday lives; and
WHEREAS,
the support of an understanding community is vital to
the efficient operation of public works programs such
as storm drainage, streetlights, roads, walkways, public
buildings, solid waste recycling, collection and disposal,
sanitary sewers, wastewater treatment, land development
services and building construction; and
WHEREAS,
the quality and effectiveness of these facilities, as
well as their planning, design, construction and maintenance
are vitally dependent on the efforts and skill of Public
Works and Environmental Services employees; and
WHEREAS,
residents' understanding of the tasks performed by the
Department of Public Works and Environmental Services
is important to the efficiency of the qualified and
dedicated employees; NOW THEREFORE
BE
IT RESOLVED, that the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors,
on behalf of all residents of Fairfax County, does hereby
proclaim May 15 - 21, 2005, as
Public
Works Week
in
Fairfax County and urges all residents to recognize
the commitment to our community that Public Works and
Environmental Services employees make to preserve our
environment and to protect the health, safety and welfare
of Fairfax County residents.
