County Public Safety Radio System Upgrades
Expedited processing of
FDPA - C - 108-3 and the
associated 2232 application
The Arlington County Office of Emergency Management
(OEM) is in the process of upgrading its public safety
radio system. This system supports Arlington County's
emergency first responders (police, fire and emergency
medical), and also the City of Falls Church and mutual
aid operation with Fairfax County. Arlington is also
replacing its public safety mobile digital communication
system for public safety.
1991, Arlington County has utilized the building at
6400 Arlington Boulevard, Tax Map 51-3 (1) 1B, currently
BB&T Bank, for a telecommunication facility in addition
to sites within Arlington County. That facility/final
development plan was approved on October 22, 1991.
County OEM has filed the necessary Section 15.2-2232
application with the Department of Planning and Zoning,
and has also filed a required rezoning application package,
to include building ownership concurrence. Arlington
County is requesting approval of new radio antennas
and microwave dish antennas to support its communication
systems. Arlington also utilizes space within the building
to house the necessary radio system equipment.
County OEM has requested expedited processing of its
move that the Board direct staff of the Department of
Planning and Zoning to proceed with expedited processing
of Arlington County's pending 2232 application and FDPA-C-108-3.
motion does not relieve the Applicant from complying
with all regulations, ordinances, or adopted standards,
and does not prejudice the consideration of the pending
2232 and FDP applications in any way.
