The Providence Perspective
An Introduction
As one of the nine magisterial districts of Fairfax County, Providence District is geographically centered within the county. It contains approximately 114,000 people within an area of 22.31 square miles. Providence District has a diverse population and economy. There are small residential communities, picturesque parks, and one of the largest shopping and business centers in the country, Tysons Corner. Providence District has a rich, fascinating, and sometimes surprising history.
This “Providence Perspective” will provide you with a unique look
at the people, places and events we learned about while listening to many
of our residents. They provide an interesting and entertaining
perspective of life in Northern Virginia over many years. Come
inside and journey with us as we record the events, and the people who
lived through them. Exeprience our community as Providence changed
throughout the previous century to the present.
Please kindly note that the Providence Perspective Oral History Project
is currently under construction with new information being uploaded every
Monday. Thank you for your interest in this important project to
capture some of the rich traditions and customs shared by the residents
of Fairfax County.
