Providence District Supervisor Linda Smyth is pleased to hold an interactive and informational event on transportation issues that directly impact our daily lives in Providence.
The main presentation will briefly cover the recently enacted Virginia General Assembly Transportation Plan before moving onto a discussion of High Occupancy Toll (HOT) lanes along the Capital Beltway. Staff from Transurban, the firm charged with designing and constructing the project, will outline the HOT lanes project and respond to specific questions from the audience. HOT lane topics to be covered include the current design, the toll mechanism and pricing, and the construction phase.
The project will significantly impact the way we travel around Northern Virginia, and this discussion is a chance to ask the questions you have about this new approach to managing traffic.
In addition, the Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) will run a number of kiosks during the event to provide citizens with information on County programs developed to improve our transportation experience. The information available ranges from the Residential Traffic Administration Program (which includes traffic calming) and bicycling to bus service and pedestrian walkways. FCDOT staff will be on hand to explain these programs and answer your questions.
The last seminar in this series will focus on the planning and development of Tysons Corner. More information on these seminars will be available on this Web site or by emailing or calling Supervisor Smyth’s office at 703-560-6946, TTY 711.
