Holiday Notice
Memorial Day Holiday: All Fairfax County Department of Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS) programs, activities and facilities, including Fastran services, will be closed on Monday, May 27 for the Memorial Day Holiday.
Fastran offers specialized transportation services for residents of Fairfax County and the Cities of Fairfax and Falls Church participating in human service agency programs. All Fastran riders must be certified by a participating agency before utilizing the service.
PROGRAMS
Critical Medical Care
The Critical Medical Care Program is for residents who undergo
continuing dialysis, cancer treatments or rehabilitative services on a
space available basis. Please select Critical Medical Care Program
(CMCP) for the application.
Dial-a-Ride
The Dial-a-Ride Program is for residents, certified by Fastran, to
be transported to and from medical appointments and essential shopping
needs. DAR trips are only available between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. weekdays.

FEES
Most riders are not charged a fare. Critical medical care users pay $0.00 - $5.00 per one-way trip depending upon income. Dial-a-Ride users deposit $1 - $2 in the farebox each way, depending upon the length of the trip.
HOW TO BECOME CERTIFIED
If you are interested in certification for the Critical Medical Care Program or the Dial-a-Ride Program, please print the application from the links above. For certification for other transportation needs, contact the human service agency sponsor.

Intellectual Disability Services - To and from support services and worksites
Mental Health Services - To and from services on a daily basis
Alcohol and Drug Services - Use is limited to transporting clients to the Recovery Women's Center
Senior Centers - Arranged through centers only
Senior Residences - To weekly group grocery shopping trips and Monthly mall trips to residents of 18 senior residence developments. Trips scheduled by sites
Senior Adult Day Health Care - To and from adult day health care centers
NCS Therapeutic Recreation Services - Mental retardation or physical disabilities to Outings and structured recreational activities
CANCELLATION AND INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICIES
During periods of snow or other inclement weather, Fastran service may be canceled. Listen to your radio for Fairfax County Public School announcements or call Fastran customer service at 703-222-9764, press 8, TTY: 703-324-7079.
If Fairfax County Public Schools are CLOSED, trips will be handled as follows:
All scheduled Fastran trips, except dialysis, chemotherapy and radiation trips, will be canceled.
If Fairfax County Public Schools open 1-2 hours late or close early, trips will be handled as follows:
Mental Health and Mental Retardation Trips - Will operate late or early by the same duration
Dialysis, Chemotherapy, and Radiation Trips - Will operate on schedule
Senior Centers, Adult Day Care, Mid-Day Charter and Dial-a-Ride Trips - Will be canceled
Note: Riders are expected to keep sidewalks passable at their homes either by removing ice/snow or by spreading kitty litter for traction.

METRO ACCESS (Fastran does not operate the local Metro Access Service).

This service was designed by the Washington Metropolitan AreaTransit Authority (WMATA) to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). These riders are unable to use traditional fixed-route bus or rail service due to physical or cognitive disability or inaccessibility of facilities.
