What is Project SUCCESS?
Project SUCCESS is an inclusive service learning program that engages youth with and without disabilities in community service. Designed for middle and high school students, the curriculum provides tools for researching, planning, and executing service projects.

This unique program enables youth of all ability levels the opportunity to become vested in the community while cultivating relationships with their peers. Working in a supportive environment, they are empowered to become responsible, resourceful citizens.

By integrating students with diverse strengths, talents and learning styles, they all learn:

  • Social Skills
  • Effective Teamwork Skills
  • Compassion and Patience
  • Respect for Diversity
  • Employment Skills

Who is eligible and how do I join?
    • If you are a student in middle or high school in Fairfax County
    • 22 or younger and enrolled in a special education vocational program

You are eligible to join Project SUCCESS, Just download, complete the registration form, and mail it to:

Where and when are the meetings?

Sites Locations and Meeting Times

South County Government Center
- 8350 Richmond Highway, 3rd floor Teen Center, Alexandria, VA 22309- Tuesday afternoons from 4 to 6 p.m. on school days.
Start date: September, 18, 2007.

Mott Center- 12111 Braddock Road, Fairfax, VA 22030- Wednesday afternoons from 4 to 6 p.m. on school days.
Start date: September 19, 2007.

James Lee Community Center- 2855A Annandale Road, Falls Church, VA 22042- Thursday afternoons from 4 to 6 p.m. on school days.
Start date: September 20, 2007.

What types of community service projects have they completed?

Since 1998, Project SUCCESS teens of Northern Virginia have completed more than 130,000 hours of community service. Some projects we have completed are:

  • Raised $3,000 to help rebuild an orphanage in Sri Lanka
  • Adopted a unit of soldiers in Iraq, sending 3,000 lbs of necessary items
  • Collected items and made emergency bags for children in foster care
  • Made repairs and renovations at a homeless shelter
  • Mentored at risk youth
  • Collected food and clothing for the needy
  • Hosted camping trips for adults with disabilities
  • Collected and repaired used bicycles for children in need
  • Planted four gardens certified by the National Wildlife Federation
  • Refurbished a state institution for people with disabilities
  • Cooked and served meals at homeless shelters
