Thanksgiving Holiday Notice

All Fairfax County Department of Community & Recreation Services centers, programs and facilities, including Fastran services, will be closed on Thursday, November 26, 2009 and Friday, November 27, 2009 for the Thanksgiving Holiday.


New Non-County Fees for Youth and Adults in Effect for Fall 2009 Season


The Fairfax County Athletic Council (FCAC) and CRS are pleased to announce the winners of the ninth annual Fairfax County Champions of Character Awards. This awards program honors youth, coaches and parents for extraordinary service in pursuing victory with honor. The winners were recognized by members of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and School Board at a ceremony on Tuesday, October 6.

  • Volunteer Building Directors - Information on becoming a Volunteer Building Director (VBD). All gym users must have a building director on site at all times.

Sports in Fairfax County

The Fairfax County Department of Community and Recreation Services does not operate sports leagues or camps. Please visit the following links for information on participating in sports.

Programs and Services

  • Culmore Soccer Camp - Free summer soccer camp for youth ages 6 to 15. Held at Mason District Park.
  • Youth Sports Scholarship Program - English (pdf) - Spanish (pdf) - Scholarship assistance for youth to participate in organized athletics. Important information for youth sports administrators.
  • Kids Serve Too - is a Year Round Recreational Voucher Program for Kids Who Have a Parent Deployed in the Military. For the Application
  • Fairfax County Athletic Council - A volunteer Advisory Council, which is appointed by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.
  • Parents for Good Sports – CRS has partnered with Parents for Good Sports (PGS) to provide PGS’s Team Enhancement Program to youth teams and organizations. For more information on the program, which promotes good sportsmanship through the development of a strong team community, please contact the Athletic Services Division at AthleticServices@fairfaxcounty.gov.
  • Champions of Character Awards –  CRS is now accepting nominations for the 2010 Champions of Character Awards, which recognize youth athletes, parents, and coaches for demonstrating positive character in youth sports. (2009 winners)
