Fairfax County, long famous for
its sports and recreation opportunities, allows residents
to take advantage of a variety of sports and recreational
pursuits. Providing sports and recreation opportunities
is a priority for Fairfax County.
Athletic Services assigns community
use of athletic facilities to Fairfax County sports organizations
and gives referrals to sports organizations for residents
interested in participating in team sports. If you are
looking to reserve a gym
or an athletic field in Fairfax County, you fill out
a Facility Use Application and submit it to the Athletic
Services Division. If you needed a referral for adult
or children's sports teams in your area, call 703-324-5522
or 324-5533.
To help community groups reduce
the cost of using gymnasiums for athletics, the division
operates a Volunteer Building
Director Program. This program trains designated community
group representatives to serve as CRS on-site personnel
during the group's facility use time. Training is provided.
Athletic Services coordinates
the County's Youth Sports Scholarship
Program. Scholarships provide registration fee waivers
or equipment vouchers to Fairfax County youth from low-income
families.
On December 11, 2002, the Fairfax
County Board of Supervisors approved a new Athletic
Services Field Policy for scheduling local school
fields and park athletic fields.
