Fairfax County Seeks Public Comment and Feedback on Proposed Changes to
Field Allocation Policy and Gym Allocation Policy

The Fairfax County Athletic Council is seeking public comment and feedback on proposed changes to the Fairfax County Community and Recreation Services’ (CRS) Field Allocation Policy and Gym Allocation Policy. As the advisory council to CRS and the Board of Supervisors on community athletic issues, the Athletic Council is responsible for periodically reviewing the policies and recommending changes. The Athletic Council will use the feedback gathered during this public comment period to refine their recommendations before presenting them to the Board of Supervisors for final approval this fall.

The recommendations include changes and updates to the current policies, key issues to be addressed in memoranda of understanding (MOUs) that govern the development and allocation of synthetic turf fields funded in part or in whole by community athletic organizations, and a $20 per season fee to be assessed to non-Fairfax County residents participating in youth sports.

The proposals are available online at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/rec. The Athletic Council will be accepting comments through July 9. Interested individuals may provide feedback online or at one of six public meetings:
