Young People Compete for the Gold
at Fairfax County's Annual Hershey Track Meet
Fairfax County, VA—Fairfax County Department of Community and Recreation Services’ Athletic Services is sponsoring the Annual Hershey Track Meet on Friday, May 16 and Saturday, May 17, 2008 at the Falls Church High School Track, 7521 Jaguar Trial in Falls Church. The track meet is a community event developed for young people ages 9 to 14 years of age. Applications are due to CRS by Monday, April 28, 2008.
Rain date is May 17, 2008. Should both dates get rained out, all events will be held on Monday, May 19 at 5 p.m. same location. This is a community event.
Boys and girls compete in separate events in different age groups: 9-10, 11-12, and 13-14 year olds. Young people ages 9–10 will compete on Friday, May 16 beginning at 5 p.m. and ages 11–14 will compete on Saturday, May 17 beginning at 9 a.m. The Hershey Track Meet is free but does require advance registration. No applications will be accepted the day of the event.
Eligible participants can compete in the 500-Meter Dash, 100 Meter Dash, 200 Meter Run, 400 Meter Run, 800 Meter Run, 1600 Meter Run, 4 x 100 Meter Run, and the Standing Long Jump, and Softball Throw.
