Let’s Get Ready
Fairfax County, VA—If you are ages 9 to 14 years of age, you are eligible for the annual Hershey Track Meet sponsored by the Fairfax County Department of Community and Recreation Services’ Athletic Services. The track meet will be held this year on Friday, May 15 and Saturday, May 16 at the Falls Church High School Track, 7521 Jaguar Trial in Falls Church. This is a community event. Applications are due in the CRS off no later than Friday, May 1, 2009 at 4:30 p.m.
If there is rain or inclement weather on Friday, May 15, 2009, events for all ages will be run on Saturday, May 16, 2009, beginning at 9 a.m.until all events are completed, at the same location. Should both dates get rained out or have inclement weather, all events will be Monday, May 18, 2009 at 5 pm. In case of inclement weather, call 703-324-5533, TTY 711 for more information.
Boys and girls compete in separate events in different age groups: 9-10, 11-12, and 13-14 year olds. Young people ages 9–10 will compete on Friday, May 15, beginning at 5 p.m. and ages 11–14 will compete on Saturday, May 16, beginning at 9 a.m. The Hershey Track Meet is free but does require advance registration. No applications will be accepted the day of the event.
Eligible participants can compete in the 500-Meter Dash, 100 Meter Dash, 200 Meter Run, 400 Meter Run, 800 Meter Run, 1600 Meter Run, 4 x 100 Meter Run, and the Standing Long Jump, and Softball Throw.
