Bring your family and join us as we will have a day of fun celebrating 20 years of serving the community. The entertainment will be done by our participants, as they demonstrate some of their favorite activities such as line dance, tai chi, playing guitar, singing, tap dancing, art displays and possible sales, cake walk and winning prizes. The seniors will perform their activity then invite anyone who wants to try some basics to join in. Refreshments will also be served.
We have some important services being offered as well, flu shots will be available so bring your insurance card/ Medicare B card/ or $22 and free blood pressure checks. The Olley Glen Housing facilities will be opening soon and staff will be on hand to answer questions about the 90 new apartments in our back yard.
We will have collection boxes for items for our soldiers as well as making thank you cards here and from the area schools that have been making some as well. We will be transporting all collected items to Lake Braddock Secondary School for our “Make a Difference Day” large packing event on Saturday October 23rd . If you would like to drop off donations or cards for the packing or make a monetary donation you can go to www.americasadoptasoldier.org to see what items are needed and learn about the 501c3 organization. Little River Glen has been active in supporting our soldiers for years, many of them having served with some stories to tell, and they do proudly .
The community has been fantastic in making donations for drawings that the Advisory Council will manage and raise funds for Fairfax County Friends of Seniors. So you have a good chance to win something and support those ranging from 55-105 years old.
