Senior Center Without Walls

Fairfax County Senior Center Without Walls is an exciting public-private partnership among the residents of Burke, West Springfield, Fairfax Station, local businesses, places of worship and Fairfax County Government. It was created to provide a variety of programs, activities and services to older adults in this community. Building upon several successful pilot projects the Burke-West Springfield Senior Center Without Walls continues to grow! Accotink Unitarian Universalist Church, Burke United Methodist Church and Durga Temple were the first organizations to support the Senior Center Without Walls. The Center Without Walls Initiative receives endorsement from the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. The BOS encourages organizations, businesses, and individuals to join the project.

To ensure the growth and community-led sustainability of the Senior Center Without Walls, a network of community-based organizations, businesses and individuals committed to sharing and developing resources is being developed to provide programs, services, activities and opportunities for older adults in this community.

The Fairfax County Department of Community and Recreation Services in collaboration with other Fairfax County human service agencies, as well as key community project coordinators are overseeing and developing this network. The goal is to develop the Senior Center Without Walls into a self-sustaining organization that will continue to serve the Burke/West Springfield/Fairfax Station community independently.
