About the Human Services Resource Guide

How is the HSRG Organized?

The HSRG utilizes a Taxonomy or classification system to index and catalog services. This Taxonomy provides all users with a common language.

The Taxonomy is made up of a hierarchy of classifications with a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 6 levels of specificity, each logically related to the next. For example:

Level I ----- L Health Care
Level II ---- LR Rehabilitation
Level III --- LR-8000 Speech and Hearing
Level IV ---- LR-8000.0500 Audiology
Level V ---- LR-8000.0500-800 Sign Language Instruction
Level VI ---- LR-8000.0500-800.05 American Sign Language

To enable very refined service searches, services are indexed as specifically as possible - always level 3, 4, 5 or 6
