Personal Visiting - Policy and Scheduling

All personal visitors must schedule an appointment with the online form or by telephone or in person at the ADC.

Professional Visiting - Hours and Instructions

Inmates are allowed confidential, unscheduled visits with attorneys, probation officers and law enforcement officials during designated hours. Attorneys not admitted to practice in Virginia and other professional visitors must request prior approval.

Sheriff Stacey Kincaid has implemented several changes in the Sheriff's Office that are focused on mental illness, which affects approximately 40 percent of our inmates.

The county jail has been in business since 1802.

Inside the Jail

The Adult Detention Center (ADC) is unique in the nation because it provides all four forms of jail housing: single cell, linear, podular and direct supervision.

Weekend Confinement

The court can place an offender in the Weekend Confinement Program, which allows an inmate to retain his or her job and serve non-consecutive time for his or her sentence.

Alternative Incarceration

The Alternative Incarceration Branch, adjacent to the Adult Detention Center, offers residential and community programs for eligible offenders.
