Alternative Incarceration
The Alternative Incarceration Program, housed in the Pre-Release Center adjacent to the jail, offers community work and treatment for eligible offenders. In addition to managing the day-to-day operations of the program, deputy sheriffs are responsible for maintaining order and ensuring the safety and security of offenders, visitors, and staff.
The Alternative Incarceration Program places considerable emphasis on teaching offenders self-sufficiency and real life skills in order to reduce the return to criminal behavior. Inmates also may be directed to participate in Intensive Addictions and Treatment Program.
The Sheriff's Office effectively manages an average daily population of approximately 200 offenders assigned to either residential or community labor force programs.
